Page updated on June 7, 2008. Personality of the subject is highly volatile and is subject to changes within the defined ambit.

Priyank Thatte, born in Dombivli, a cultural hotspot of Mumbai, the financial capital of India, on a splendid rainy day of August 05 ‘81 claims to have created this website as a medium for expressing his random thoughts and idle musings. Priyank created this website in early 2000 and in all the time it existed, it has served no useful purpose to the world, other than to entertain himself. A true Leo and classic INTJ to the core, Priyank believes that he is a perfectionist, systematic and an intricate planner, while being fecundly intuitive and passionately creative at the same time. He uses adjectives quite liberally (as you just saw), clings to the phrase he coined “I believe I can fly” (which sometimes smacks of overconfidence and smartassedness).

Currently Priyank is in Toronto, Canada enrolled at the Schulich School of Business for master’s degree in business administration (MBA). He is also working as a Business Analyst (wow! finally a fancy title) at Hydro One, Ontario’s electricity distribution utility. He previously worked hard as a Project Planner at Tecnimont ICB and Aker Kvaerner where he was chosen right after completing bachelor’s degree in Chemical engineering from Mumbai university.

Priyank insists that his life is not boring at all as you might have thought after reading the paragraph above. He loves to travel a lot and intends to have Visas of 10 countries on his passport by 2011. As of now he has Canada, USA, Israel and Peru, which is a good pace. Russia is going to be next. He desperately wants to travel to Turkey, Morocco, Egypt, all over South America and to Tanzania. Apart from travel, he loves his Sitar and uses it to produce some funny notes which he calls ‘music’. He shamelessly proudly plays at several gigs (restaurants, weddings, parties, etc) in Toronto that fetches him some extra income which is promptly squandered on junk food and shopping for stuff that will never be used. A century back, Priyank was a Yoga teacher at York University, but currently he claims to be working on researching about beers and therefore his favorite line is “Yes, round is a shape.

Since he lives by himself (more or less), his thoughts while biking to and from work are often preoccupied with grocery lists, laundry logistics, dishes and he passionately talks about rising commodity prices and relating that to the fancy Economics jargon he is learning at school. Priyank dismisses the idea of single tasking and calls it inefficient. “Life is too short to do one thing at a time. All activities, except recreational sex, are dominated by the use of one or two sensory organs and there is no reason to keep the other three idling.”

Occasionally he loves raving some sentences in German or practising the pictorial Japanese scripts. He is currently learning Russian at full speed and next year he wants to start Hebrew now. His inextinguishable appetite for books or any reading material in general is attributable to a quote he read on some gay blog that went - “Nothing sexier than a man who reads.”

Our guy likes to pretend that he is very busy with the activities mentioned above and often you will notice him grumble about lack of time (“24 hours a day is just too less”). Also, he sleeps six hours a day, dreams a lot, and claims to remember all of them after waking up. Nevertheless, he spends lot of time attending to his social and personal commitments which have resulted into a sizeable network of acquaintances.

Contact

Priyank loves to meet new people and he will usually reply to all nice emails he receives. You may ask him specific queries, comment in general, simply say ‘hi’, or offer him a drink (last one works best).

E-mail: m a i l [a t] p r i y a n k [ dot ] c o m

Priyank isn’t shy about meeting you either, if you are around downtown Toronto, let him know and he will show up on a bike. He hates cars because they consume oil, damage the environment and cause pollution. He also hates cars because he doesn’t own one.

About this website

History: This website came into existence in September 1999 when Priyank was barely getting introduced to the internet and was still in early stages of evolution (casual remark: at this rate, the process will never end). Consequently there was no mental vomit on this domain until the beginning of year 2001 when revision 2.0 was unveiled. Version 4.5 of this website, released in mid-August 2005, is the result of several developments - both technical (understanding of computers and internet) and mental (various complicated electrochemical processes in neural cells inside the brain) - over the period of time. Current version is 4.75, with significant upgrades. (These numbers don’t really make sense, do they?)

Core: This website does not use traditional tables, but works with absolute and relative positioning of CSS Layers. Additionally, the content and design have been explicitly separated, thus facilitating the implementation of themes. All webpages are designed to be W3C XHTML 1.0 Transitional and CSS 2.0 Standards Compliant.

Software: This site has been hand-coded using Notepad, one of the few nice things Mr. Gates did, and TopStyle Pro which is a superb XHTML and CSS text editor, also supporting PHP. The Gimp and Paint Shop Pro 9 were used for image creation and editing. Tested successfully in Linux (Ubuntu 10.1), Windows 98 and Windows XP using Firefox (latest build) Internet Explorer (v5.5, 6.0) and Opera (v6.01, 7.23) at all common screen resolutions. Rendered incorrectly in Windows 3.1 (Priyank loves it. weird!) and older versions of above browsers.

Weblog is powered by WordPress (WP). “Initially its difficult to understand how WP works. But once you bang your head against the wall, you’ll discover the power WP unleashes, and enjoy the way it supports php templates, stylesheets and modularization in general”, is how Priyank describes it. “It was lot of fun, after several failed attempts, to create these themes (Prithvi, Agni, Jal, Aakash) for my website”, he adds.

  18. Madhavi Sanghamitra says:

Hi, can’t seem to figure out how I came across your page, but you seem reasonably insane which is a quality not appreciated adequately. And therefore, as a reasonably insane person myself am forwarding an invite to you… We havent figured it as well, but if you can take some time out , would be grateful if you might let me know what you think of it..

    Madhavi Sanghamitra Bhatia

    here goes….

    the invitation – “a call”

This is a call to build a cross-cultural, cross-regional, cross-racial, multi-skilled organization. Today, we are based out of UK and India. So far, we are one half-English, half-Chinese British holistic healer, one completely English & completely focused journalist, one very passionate Indian travel writer, one South African-Bosnian compelling storyteller, one very Indian, very British business woman, one tactical Indian food journalist cum senior editor, two Indian entrepreneurs and a Star Wars light saber sword wielding Indian programmer.

    Clearly, we’re not adding up.

So if there is a book you want to publish, music you want to write, a chartbuster you haven’t sung, a game you want to develop, a river you want to save, a news you want to post, a road you haven’t traveled on, an island you haven’t sailed to, people you haven’t met, consciousness you want to expand, or maybe have a world to save, come aboard. Share your ware and see if you’ve got takers.

If you have been there, done that already, that’s great – show us how! And if it is something you still haven’t, take a shot now. If you can do it alone - brilliant, if you need people to make it happen, better. Write your idea/project/wish. Work on somebody else’s idea and expand your talent. Create a collaborative platform where we can pool-in our skill-sets and make things happen. Where help is not a four letter word and where “we” scores over the “I”. Where impossible becomes possible if we just collaborate.

It’s fun and everybody’s invited! …It’s fun and you are entitled to have it! …

    a call

    There is something about you,
And it isn’t quite yet said
    There is something about me,
But I am not that sure

    There is something about here,
    That might lead us somewhere
    There is something about now
    That escapes us somehow

    Could there be an “us”,
    Could there be a “we”?
    Can we lose the “I”
    Without losing “me”?

    I have something to say
    You have something to show
    Where’s the perfect stage?

    Who will be host?
    How about now?
    How about here?

    Can you…

Work at the edge - in word, in color, in clay, or in song?
Be a page that might get words wrong?
Hold the hand that brushes a blank canvas?
Light a flicker of a moment
Write a song within a drone
Bounce the ball that becomes a winning goal?

There is something to be built

We’re not quite sure what it is
    We’ll build it with words,
    We’ll build it with songs,
    We’ll break down clichés

    To make it strong
    We’ll shout when we triumph
    And laugh if we’re wrong
    The idea is here
Who will be the first to dare?

It’s fun, so who do you want invited?

PS For the rest of us who just like to watch, please don’t give it a miss. Don’t we all just love an audience?!

  23. Mahendra Palsule says:

For some reason, your site is acting very unresponsive and loading very slowly since yesterday. I’m not sure if it’s a problem localized to me. But once I even got this Wordpress error:

    “Error establishing a database connection

This either means that the username and password information in your wp-config.php file is incorrect or we can’t contact the database server at mysql12.powweb.com. This could mean your host’s database server is down.
Are you sure you have the correct username and password?
Are you sure that you have typed the correct hostname?
Are you sure that the database server is running?

If you’re unsure what these terms mean you should probably contact your host. If you still need help you can always visit the WordPress Support Forums.”
